Hospitality is a quality that should be a given in the church or any business for that matter. However, one would be surprised at how this quality is being displayed less and less in today’s society. Rising Sun has a committee that works diligently to extend welcoming, friendly, and generous treatment to every visitor, guest, and member.
Life Changing Project
The Life Changing Project addresses the increased drug and alcohol abuse, criminal activity, and incarceration amongst our young people by way of awareness and prevention using techniques outlined by the National Council for the Prevention of Drug Abuse. The NCPDA is continuing its mission to get a handle on this situation by teaching young people to “behave in a positive manner” instead of reciprocating the negative roles displayed in society around them.
The use of media outlets is becoming an increasingly vital element of communicating Rising Sun’s message to the community. In addition to our long time practice of recording Sunday morning worship services and making them available to members and visitors, we have expanded this ministry to include The Beacon; a community newsletter based out of Rising Sun that features Whitehaven and Mid-South issues and resources as well as the current and upcoming events of Rising Sun Outreach Ministries. A video version of our worship services is soon to come and will be available to RSOM and community members.
Rising Sun recognizes that the community around a church is often neglected when it comes to Christian fellowship. The Missions and Outreach Team reaches out to the surrounding community by way of actively addressing some of the community issues, going to the homes offering the good news Jesus Christ, as well as extending invitations to the many activities and services we offer to the community.
